Hurricane Sandy Assistance; Election Day Details; Point Park Santa Hours

Bob Carr, ward 4 councilman, discusses available assistance for those affected by Hurricane Sandy, leaf pick-up schedules and the annual Holiday Stroll celebration.

HURRICANE SANDY
If you know of anyone without power and needing shelter, Lake County Emergency Management has opened an Emergency Shelter at the Mentor Senior Center, located at 8484 Munson Road in Mentor. Transportation is available from Laketran 354-6100.

ELECTION DAY
49% of us want to keep Obama and 49% of us want to replace with Romney! Very important election on Tuesday. Make sure you vote for your preferred candidate and if you are part of the 2% — you only have a few days to decide. Plain Dealer analysis last week says that Lake County is one of 3 counties which are consistent indicators of how the state will vote. Lake County is one of the early reporting counties, based on size and the use of electronic ballots. So Tuesday night, watch for Lake County results and that could be a bellweather indication of how the election may turn.
On the other hand, I can’t wait until it is over! My phone line is ringing constantly with recorded campaign messages and I am not answering the phone. If you need to call me, please leave a message and I will get right back to you.
Locally, we have two City of Willoughby Issues on the ballot. Issue 3 (Parks and Recreation) and Issue 4 are Renewal Tax Levies. BOTH of these are renewal levies which means NO MORE TAXES. Please vote yes and approve both levies so we can continue offering the same level of City Services.

LEAF PICK-UP
Leaf pickup by City crews will begin around October 22nd (weather permitting) and continue through the first week in December.
Crews will try to do each area at least once a week during this time period.
Please keep leaf piles out of the street gutter and away from street drains and catch basins.
Leaves placed in the street can block drains and catch basins causing street flooding. Leaves placed in street gutters are a violation of Ordinances 915.04d and 521.08i. As always, you can bag (craft paper bags) your leaves and they will be picked up on your regular scheduled trash day along with your yard waste through November 30th.
