As the weather begins to cool down, there seem to be less days for patio dining. Contributor Kathi Cannon makes her suggestions for a progressive dinner that will let you take advantage of downtown Willoughby’s finest patios before they close for the season.
Patios of Willoughby
Appetizers – Lure Bistro – try the raw bar tasting platter. You’re on the patio enjoying the weather. Why not eat something most people only have on vacation.
Dinner – Willoughby Brewing Company – I suggest the Railway Razz Chicken (with a Railway Razz beer, of course) or the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos. You were adventurous in the first course, so let’s go local in the second.
Dessert – Nickleby’s Roundbar – Cheesecake of the Day – This has never disappointed me.
Drinks – Corks Wine Bar – Hidden away behind the building, this patio doesn’t disappoint.
Pub Crawl
This is something new for me and I have only been on one crawl. I asked for recommendations on this one.
Round 1 – Frank and Tony’s – Wings (Hot or Cajun) – let’s get thing started off right.
Round 2 – Willoughby Brewing Company –Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls – Chicken and buffalo sauce wrapped in a neat little package.
Round 3 – Mullarkey’s – Chicken Tenders – Okay, so I like chicken when drinking. Seriously, I have no idea what they do to the tenders here, but they are the best in Willoughby. Maybe Owner John Bowers will tell you his secret.
Round 4 – The Wild Goose – Any Pizza your choice – The carbs of the crust will help absorb some of the hot sauce and alcohol you have consumed on this trip. I haven’t found a pizza here I didn’t like. Be adventurous.
