A rib cook off isn’t complete without great music. Featured musicians at the DTW Red, White & BBQ Rib Burn Off include the celtic Plaid Sabbath, high school-aged Lake Effect and Willoughby’s own Mayor Dave Anderson.
Here is the schedule:
Noon: The Pic Nics- The Pic Nics are a surf band bar none. They are a regular backup band and have done many gigs with the Ventures and Nokie Edwards. The Pic Nics are also a favorite at classic car shows.
1 p.m. : Mayor Dave Anderson- The Mayor is a fabulous finger-style guitar player a la Chet Atkins. His cool style, beautiful arrangements and tasteful song selection will be appreciated by all.
2 p.m. : Joe’s Music Kids Band- The Joe’s Music kid’s band plays a variety of styles from Adele to Led Zeppelin. The ages range from 8-18 years old .This group has been together for over a year and are really jamming! Their last 2 gigs were at Mentor Mall and Willoughby Brewing Co.
3 p.m.: Plaid Sabbath- A great celtic group featuring bagpipes, guitar, drum and fife. traditional and modern arrangements in the celtic genre. A fun must see for all ages.
4 p.m.: The Elm Street Blues Band- A fantastic blues band featuring local players you have enjoyed for years. Their traditional blues style is sure to wow. Sizzling lead guitar, driving bass and drums bass will make you forget your troubles.
5 p.m. : Block- Former members of Block Logic: Jimmy Black, Kip Volans and Jerry Genis have regrouped to put a new spin on the old classics. The band consists of The regular bass guitar and drums but also features horns and latin percussion to accommodate their tasteful song list a la Steely Dan.
6 p.m. : Lake Effect- Another local band! New! Fresh! Hot! Original! Three High school Musicians have come together to regularly gig the circuit. They are bursting onto the scene with a classic rockin’ bluesy new sound! They are a little like the Black Keys…..in spirit
7 p.m. : The Navy Blues- 3 former members of the Joe’s Music Kid’s band, now in college, perform Blues Folk Rock originals and covers tunes. They have poignant originals and a very surprising catalog of classic tunes to compliment their original songs.
